NPD Port Chalmers Motors

Being in a port town makes NPD Port Chalmers Motors an important stop for boaties.

There are plenty of pumps, including a high flow diesel pump, and the 24-hour outside payment terminal allows boat owners to pull in after hours without blocking the forecourt.

Owner Jon Houston says they can handle anything from filling a small jerry can to an 8-metre hardtop boat. Jon worked at the garage for a couple of years before he and his wife Anna purchased it 11 years ago.  He says the site has been upgraded over the years and in addition to the workshop they also sell screws, sandpaper, nails and other hardware, which saves the locals having to make the 10-kilometre trip to Dunedin.  Visitors from the cruise ships also call in for supplies.

Jon and Anna are very involved in the local community and sponsor the local soccer club.
