NPD named best value petrol station chain by independent Kiwi consumer research

New Zealand motorists rank NPD top for price-quality ratio in international Best Buy Award programme

NPD has been named the top-performing brand in the Petrol Station Chain category in an independent consumer research programme run in New Zealand by ICERTIAS – International Certification Association GmbH, based in Zurich, Switzerland.

The research was carried out in March 2026 among 1,200 New Zealand residents aged 18 and over. Respondents were asked a single open-ended question: which petrol station chain, based on their own experience or the experience of people close to them, offers the best value for money and the best price-quality ratio. No brand list or suggested answers were shown – people could name any chain they considered relevant.

NPD received the highest number of these unaided votes, qualifying the brand for Best Buy Award recognition in the Petrol Station Chain category for New Zealand.

ICERTIAS notes that the result reflects consumer perceptions and reported experiences at the time the research was conducted. It is not a technical assessment of fuel quality, an audit of prices, a measure of market share, or a guarantee that every customer will have the same experience.
